S-Type Load Cells

S-type load cells, also known as S-Beam Load Cells, are force sensors that measure tension and compression. S Type Load Cells are named for their S-shaped body.

S type" load cells, unlike other typical load cells, take their "S type" name from their shape, although occasionally some people do prefer the term "Z type", the spring element is located in the centre beam of the load cell.

The capacities of the S-type load cells we can offer vary from 25kg up to around 30 tonnes primarily using metal foil strain gauge technology. They are a successful choice for applications as they provide accuracy and have compact design features. Installation using rod ends or load buttons means that S-type load cells give excellent performance in both tension and compression applications.

Our compact s-shaped load cell range is available in low and high capacity choices. S-type load cells are mainly used to measure tensile forces, but also are suitable for compressive force measurement.
