Some people say that Apple Watch reminds the user to bend through the vibration when navigating is a brand new interaction. Today, Lei Feng.com will share another "new" navigation interaction with you: navigating the blind through tongue stimulation. This "new" way of interaction was created by medical device company Wicab, a device called BrainPort V100. As shown above, the device includes a pair of sunglasses with a camera and a tongue stimulator. It can convert the corresponding navigation signals such as distances, obstacles and roads into a stimulus to the tongue through the camera.
Thus, the user only needs to focus on the tongue to distinguish the road conditions, thereby achieving navigation.
Recently, the device has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and can be sold in the US market. The company says it provides the blind with more information that was previously unavailable than guide dogs and other routine aids.
