Modern engine components are becoming more diverse, and with the popularity of EFI engines, flywheels basically have signal teeth. The shape of the signal teeth is various, the traditional gear hobbing machine can not meet the processing requirements, and can not adapt to the multi-variety, small batch production mode, so now CNC milling teeth are getting more and more applications. This paper mainly introduces the characteristics and application methods of CNC milling.
1. CNC milling hardware
CNC milling equipment: CNC Milling Machine or machining center, indexing head (see Figure 1a); CNC milling cutter: three-sided milling cutter (see Figure 1b).

2. Several flywheel signal teeth suitable for machining with CNC milling
(1) Large horsepower flywheel. Features 58 narrow signal teeth and 1 wide signal tooth (see Figure 2). Since the teeth are not equally divided, they cannot be machined with a hobbing machine. By milling the teeth with a CNC milling machine, it is possible to machine any number of signal teeth in position and width.
