REVIEW: July 2016, the US machine tool orders total output value of $ 246.38 million, down 24.8% compared with June.
- Year-to-date, US machine tool manufacturing orders fell 16.3%
-- Manufacturers are hesitant to wait for recent investments - only the southeast region of the US's six manufacturing regions is growing
According to the statistics of the American Manufacturing Technology Association (AMT), the total order value of the US machinery manufacturing industry in the fields of metal cutting, metal forming and preparation equipment in July was 246.38 million US dollars, down 24.8% from June; this is 2016 Since the fourth consecutive month, the total number of new orders has continued to decline. The data report was published in the US Manufacturing Technology Order Monthly Report (USMTO).
The USMTO report summarizes the actual machine tool orders submitted by companies involved in the statistics, including the production and sale of metal cutting, metal forming and preparation equipment, and imported machinery and equipment. As of the end of July, the cumulative total output value of new orders for US machine tool manufacturing was US$2.09 billion, which was 16.3% lower than the cumulative total output of new orders from January to July 2015.
Douglas K. Woods, president of AMT, said: The automotive and aerospace industries have entered a summer depression, and are challenged by a strong dollar effect, a weak market in key export sectors, and a weakening trend in the oil and gas market. Economic development is cautious and hesitant about new investment projects.
USMTO's July monthly report was announced before the start of IMTS2016. IMTS2016 has long been regarded as the most trade-oriented manufacturing technology trade fair in the North American market; previously, the entire manufacturing industry has hoped to obtain new orders through IMTS2016, in order to reverse the sluggish manufacturing industry in the first half of 2016. .
However, since the USMTO's monthly report was released in June, AMT has regained its previous forecast for the machine tool manufacturing industry: "The demand for manufacturing will be expected to increase in the fourth quarter of 2016." In the following August, AMT announced a report that the total new orders in 2016 is expected to be lower than 2015.
Recently, AMT once again issued a report saying that the US manufacturing technology industry will not resume its growth trend until the second quarter of 2017. Although everyone is full of confidence in IMTS2016, in fact, people in the industry generally believe that "in the near future, it is good to be able to barely maintain the existing orders."
The USMTO report also summarizes the development of the US machine tool manufacturing industry from a regional perspective, and in only one of the six manufacturing regions, data shows a growing trend.
- Northeastern United States . Machine tool manufacturing orders for July totaled $47.66 million, 42.7% lower than June and 28.2% lower than July 2015.
