HDK® fumed silica from WACKER is a recognized expert in flow performance optimization. They are ideal for thickening and flow control in the hand lay-up production of composites. HDK® fumed silica not only precisely adjusts the thixotropic properties of gel coats and laminating resins, it also makes gel coats easier to process without sagging. They provide a stable viscosity to the final product and prevent separation and settling of pigments and fillers.
This pure white powder is an extremely effective formulation additive for a wide range of applications. For example, HDK® can be used as a rheological additive in liquid systems and resins such as adhesives, sealants, plastisols, coatings and composite raw materials. VINNAPAS® Solid Resin
As a low profile additive that achieves Class A surface quality, VINNAPAS® polyvinyl acetate solid resin is another highlight of WACKER's show at this show. VINNAPAS® solid resins help to achieve a perfect surface without shrinkage – stable and reliable. If a low profile additive is not added to the production of unsaturated polyester composite parts, a 6-10% shrinkage will occur. The addition of VINNAPAS® solid resin reduces the shrinkage to less than 0.05%, resulting in an extremely smooth, uniform surface.
Due to their excellent properties, unsaturated polyester resin composites play an important role in the production of high stress parts. In order to achieve a metal-like surface quality of the part, high-efficiency additives must be added to these systems. VINNAPAS® B, C and UW series of solid resins significantly improve surface smoothness and reduce the deformation and tension of polyester resin components. VINNAPAS® solid resins are used in a wide range of fiber reinforced plastic composites due to their excellent shrinkage compensation properties and perfect viscosity control properties in fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) composites.
