The dead are mainly concentrated in towns and villages

The analysis of the fire in the fire department shows that among the fires in Suzhou, the proportion of casualties among the foreign population is 75%. From the distribution of fire deaths in the past three years, they were mainly concentrated in urban and rural areas, reaching 44 people and 12 people respectively, and the combined number of deaths in both categories accounted for 64.4% of the total deaths.

Industry "stricken area" is furniture manufacturing, textile industry

Last year, a total of 1,260 fires occurred in factories and warehouses in the city, resulting in three deaths, six injuries, and direct property losses of 39.698 million yuan, of which the Xiangcheng District furniture manufacturing industry, Zhangjiagang and Changshu textile industry is particularly prominent.

In Xiangcheng District, there were 96 fires in furniture factories last year, which accounted for 43.4% of the workshop fires in the region. The reason for the high number of fires in the furniture industry is that most of the factory warehouses are old factory buildings, there are no unified plans, there are many combustibles, the fire resistance rating of the buildings is low, there is no fire separation, and the owner’s awareness of fire safety is weak, and the laying of electrical lines is not standardized. The lack of water sources makes it easy to expand and spread in the event of a fire, resulting in greater burned area and property loss.

Last year, there were 115 fires and 96 fires in textile enterprises in Changshu and Zhangjiagang cities, which accounted for 44.2% and 43.3% of local factory fires. In the textile industry, due to manufacturing processes and processes, employees often operate inadvertently during operation causing the thermal oil to overheat and ignite flammable substances, or cause fire due to machine failure. Once the fire spreads quickly, the loss is significant.

Electric vehicle fire caused by line fault

Last year, there were 276 fires caused by electric vehicles in the city, causing 11 deaths. The fire caused by the failure of electric vehicle lines has become the main cause of electric vehicle fires.

On April 27 last year, a fire broke out in Dakang Sanitary Products General Services Department, Room 103, Building 6, Binhe Garden, Dengsi Road, Gaoxin District, resulting in 8 deaths and 2 injuries. The cause of the fire was a short circuit in the electrical circuit of the electric vehicle. The fire department analyzed that due to the lack of outdoor charging equipment or to prevent theft, many people chose to park the electric vehicle in the room. From July to September, the city’s residential fires accounted for 30.1% of the total number of such fires throughout the year, transportation-type fires accounted for 32.9% of all such fires throughout the year, and outdoor electrical fires accounted for 45.4% of all such fires throughout the year. The number of fires in December has increased significantly compared to the previous year. The main types of increase have been concentrated in automotive and residential fires.
