Recently, the bio-based and bionic polymer team led by Wan Xiaobo, a key laboratory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences' bio-based materials, successfully developed a new type of polyurethane material, which is expected to break the monopoly of foreign companies on such materials.
Polyurethane hydrogel combines the advantages of hydrogel and polyurethane, high mechanical strength, and a wide range of performance control, and is widely used in biomedical and industrial fields. Among them, the one-component polyurethane hydrogel with high water-holding capacity and high mechanical strength has the advantages of convenient construction, ecological environment protection, etc. It can be used as an excellent polymer polymer sand-fixing material for desertification control, ecological protection of slopes, water and soil Loss prevention and other fields.
Researchers at the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Bio-based Materials Key Laboratory have carefully adjusted the molecular structure of the hydrophilic polyurethane resin to adjust the chain arrangement and density of the functional groups in the polymer to promote the formation of a uniform and dense cross-linked gel. In conjunction with the network, it broke through key technologies and synthesized a polyurethane resin with high water-holding capacity (up to 40 times its own volume), high mechanical strength, and excellent emulsifying properties.
At present, the team is conducting in-depth research on the gel mechanism and the factors affecting the amount of water and mechanical strength in order to optimize the reaction conditions to further increase the water holding capacity and mechanical strength, while optimizing the storage period, anti-oxidation and anti-ultraviolet performance.
