The dies are quenched and tempered for several times to reach the required hardness. Quenching is used to increase the hardness of the mold. Multiple tempering is used to increase the mold toughness and stabilize the internal structure. The hardness of the mold heat treatment provides:

Large aluminum extrusion die (F>500mm), HRC45-48; Medium die (F300~500mm), HRC47-50; Small extrusion die (F<300mm), HRC48-51; Detection in the same plane of a die Three points, each point of the hardness value should be calculated within the prescribed range.

2, special attention should be paid to the heat treatment process of the extrusion die:

a, high temperature section heating rate faster, the holding time can not be too long to prevent the extrusion mold has been burned or overheated, overheating - grain coarse, over-burning - low melting point elements and inclusions dissolved;

b. Temporarily temper the aluminum extrusion die after quenching to prevent cracking.

c, extrusion hardness found after the heat treatment is not enough or hardness is not uniform, should be annealed, according to the process of re-heat treatment (when the hardness value <HRC35 not annealing, direct heat treatment);

d. For a large aluminum extrusion die or a complex finished die, add a stress relief and tempering step (eliminate electrical machining and machining stress, that is, eliminate thermal stress and tissue stress);

e, mold quenching oil temperature should be 100 °C to ensure quenching effect.
