Fujian crops and fruit trees should pay attention to irrigation and drought prevention

From mid-April to mid-April, the rainfall in Fujian Province was relatively small. The province's average rainfall was 162 mm, which was 73% less than the same period of last year and 62% less than the same period of the previous year. It was the minimum rainfall over the same period of the previous year. The four cities of Quanzhou, Zhangzhou, Xiamen and Putian are less than 100 mm, which is 71% to 82% less than normal.

According to the public opinion monitoring of the four soil moisture monitoring points on April 23, the relative humidity of 10-30 cm soil in Fuzhou, Zhangzhou Tianbao and Yongchun is less than 60%, and the soil continues to be deficient.

According to the information of the Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters of Fujian Province, the rainfall continued to decrease, resulting in some drought in some areas of the central and southern coastal areas of Fujian Province; the drought-affected areas of Fuzhou, Zhangzhou and Putian were 13.6 thousand hectares, for tea, vegetables, fruits, etc. The growth and development of cash crops has a certain impact.

According to the forecast of the Fujian Provincial Meteorological Observatory, the province is mainly cloudy with the end of April.

Agricultural production advice

1. Less precipitation and poor soil moisture affect the growth and development of dryland crops in the central and southern coastal areas. Therefore, irrigation of spring soybeans, spring peanuts and vegetables should be strengthened before the rainy season.

2. Before the rainy season, strengthen the irrigation of bananas and other less tolerant fruit trees. It is best to use water-saving irrigation such as drip irrigation and sprinkler irrigation, and adopt tree cover measures to reduce soil moisture evaporation and keep the soil moist to ensure its normal growth and development.

3. Shallow ploughing and shallow hoeing, increase soil water storage capacity, save more and use natural precipitation, and increase organic fertilizer to improve soil drought resistance.
