VISTAGY collaborates with Lotus Renault GP on composite components

VISTAGY Inc. has restored its status as a Lotus Renault GP technology partner. In its Formula One racing team's 2011 season, VISTAGY's FiberSIM® software and consulting services will be used to design and manufacture composite parts for its R31 race car.

For the past eight seasons, the Lotus Renault GP team (formerly Renault F1) has been using VISTAGY's services and its FiberSIM® software to shorten the design and production time of its entire fleet of composite parts, including chassis, transmissions and Roller frame, side air inlet, wing plate, double diffuser bottom plate.

The Lotus Renault GP team and VISTAGY are collaborating on new technologies to optimize the development of composite products and improve the performance of the car. The team hopes to further integrate its design and analysis capabilities. The new features of FiberSIM 2010 connect these two requirements together to more effectively communicate composite design requirements to the engineering team. This improves design optimization through faster and more frequent iterations.

Accelerating the production of vehicles is critical because Formula One teams are required to complete the design, analysis, manufacture and testing of their cars within 180 days of each season. As a result, the convoy is constantly looking for ways to reduce the engineering cycle time and reduce errors in design and production to improve the final product and meet all delivery deadlines.

"During working with our technology partners, their information flow and technical experience greatly helped us improve our cars and the FiberSIM software itself." James Allison, technical director of Lotus Renault GP, said, "This open communication We have streamlined the development of composites and optimized our composite parts, which is critical for us to meet deadlines and make the most outstanding cars.”
